Risk Disclosure

Risk Disclosure & Trading Disclaimer

1. Trading Involves Real Risk of Loss

Prediction market trading, including trading on Kalshi, involves real financial risk. You can lose part or all of the money you deploy into any position. Only trade with money you can afford to lose. Nothing in BLKJ changes or reduces the underlying risk of trading on Kalshi.

2. BLKJ Is a Research and Decision-Support Tool

BLKJ classifies markets against rules, probability zones, and optional signals that you configure. This classification reflects a set of criteria, not a prediction of outcome. A market labeled "Sweet Spot" can still lose. A market labeled "No Play" can still win. BLKJ does not know the outcome of any future event.

The default rules and probability zones included with BLKJ are a generic starting baseline, not advice tailored to you. You are responsible for reviewing, adjusting, and ultimately owning every rule, threshold, and zone applied to your account. BLKJ's classification of any market is the mechanical output of your own configured settings applied to public data, it is not Black Journal's independent opinion on whether you, specifically, should make a given trade.

3. No Guarantee of Accuracy

Market data displayed in BLKJ is sourced from Kalshi's API and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate at any given moment. Black Journal does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data, classification, or score displayed.

4. Past Performance Is Not Indicative of Future Results

Any backtest, historical win rate, or sample result referenced by Black Journal, including results from prior tournaments or sample periods, reflects a specific, limited sample and is not a guarantee, promise, or reliable indicator of future performance. Market conditions, participant behavior, and pricing dynamics change over time.

5. You Are Responsible for Your Own Trades

Every trade you place is placed by you, using your own Kalshi account and your own funds, following your own manual confirmation. Black Journal does not place trades on your behalf, does not have discretionary authority over your account, and is not responsible for any trading decision you make, whether or not it followed BLKJ's classification of the underlying market.

This extends to the rules themselves: because you control which rules are active, which probability zones apply, and whether you keep BLKJ's default presets or replace them, you are responsible for the configuration you choose to run, not just the individual trades that configuration surfaces.

6. Not Affiliated With Kalshi

Black Journal and BLKJ are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Kalshi or KalshiEX LLC. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange operating independently of Black Journal. Any dispute regarding trade execution, settlement, funds, or your Kalshi account itself should be directed to Kalshi, not Black Journal.

7. If You Use the Hosted Web App

OPTION A: If you use BLKJ's hosted Web App, your Kalshi API credentials are used only within your own browser session and are not received or stored by Black Journal's servers, consistent with the Local Software. The risks described throughout this Risk Disclosure apply equally to both versions.

8. Tax Responsibility

You are solely responsible for tracking and reporting any tax obligations arising from your trading activity. Any export, journal, or summary feature provided by BLKJ is a convenience tool only and does not constitute tax advice. Consult a qualified tax professional regarding your specific situation.

9. Scope: Sports and Prediction Markets, For Now

This Risk Disclosure, and BLKJ as currently offered, is scoped to sports-related prediction markets on Kalshi. Should Black Journal expand into additional asset classes such as cryptocurrency or equities, a separate, asset-class-specific risk disclosure will apply, reflecting the different risks and regulatory framework of those markets.

The legal treatment of sports-related event contracts is an active and unsettled area. Federal courts and state regulators have reached different conclusions in different jurisdictions regarding whether sports event contracts are governed by federal commodities law or state gambling law, and the availability of Kalshi's sports contracts may vary, or change, by state. This is a function of the underlying exchange and applicable law, not of BLKJ, but you should be aware that access to the markets BLKJ classifies is not guaranteed to be uniform or permanent across all jurisdictions.

BLKJ is deliberately designed as a research and discipline tool rather than a betting product: it does not use leaderboards, streaks, push notifications designed to prompt additional trades, or other engagement mechanics common to gambling-style applications. This design choice reflects Black Journal's positioning of BLKJ as decision-support software, not a gambling product.

10. Acknowledgment

By using BLKJ, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Risk Disclosure, that you are trading at your own risk, and that Black Journal's classifications and scores are informational tools that do not guarantee any outcome.
